We created a 16 minute film called Saving Wellington that was crafted specifically to be shown at fundraiser and informational events to help stop the BLM from offering up a beautiful portion of the Applegate valley for logging. The nearly 8000 acres has never been logged. Many of us feel it should be left intact.
It was a honor that Saving Wellington was also accepted into the 2019 Ashland Independent Film Festival, as part of the “Locals Only” program. This was the third time we had a film in a festival. We intend to have more in the future.
We would like to thank Luke Ruediger and David Calahan for making this project possible. Visit their websites for more:

A simple message for this day and age.
We talk a lot and really just how truthful is it? If we calm and quiet perhaps we will see and be in the truth that lives in SILENCE.

In this hot season, even with fires in the west and many other places, lets remember snow is around the corner. Here’s a break and reminder of another season.

The mind is both our friend and our enemy. It makes a good servant but a bad boss. It keeps us in this illusion called the outer world. There is a witness inside us though, who you may rightly call Soul, who can be the real boss and make the mind our help mate instead of harm us.
My team and I just came back from the COLUMBIA GORGE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL. The leadership of the festival was so professional and so much more. Ed Keller [www.edifyproductions.com] and Kirsten Bakke did a fantastic job of representing and recording us in this wonderful venue.
We had a lovely, lively and warm welcome from Breven, Tim and Suzie, as well as so many others at our first film festival acceptance experience up in Washougal, Washington. Wonderful, creative and very accessible people greeted and played with us during our three days there. The festival was loose, friendly and easy with good food, good cheer, good films and great camaraderie. In it’s 8th year now, it is quite organized and easy to maneuver.
On the trip to the festival, we took a couple of days each way, to visit beautiful natural places and capture image and work on our next project(s). While there, we worked on many interviews with fellow filmmakers whenever we could throughout the festival. There were many easy moments with very willing and impressive people. We got some nice feedback on our work and many opportunities for further follow-up. There was deep and important work represented at the festival, there is still much important, earth influencing and sincere meaningful work yet to be done and we are inspired to be part of it.
As the festival was drawing to a close, on the last day there were awards given out. We were totally taken by surprise to win the award for CGIFF’s 2015 SHORT DOCUMENTARY. A beautifully handcrafted glass award in the shape of a multicolored “G”. How appropriate! Don Macken editor, film maker and musician is to be thanked for his contributions on two scenes as well as Jeff Stanley [www.jeffstanley.net] for music on two other scenes. It was a thrilling end to a thrilling experience. Within one wonderful weekend we have been catapulted from relative obscurity to award winning film makers!
Here’s the final version and now world premiered of GREELEY’S NATURE:
Thank you all,

Last September I had my 75th birthday and to celebrate we had a 3 day party. Along with my friend and editor Ed Keller, we looked thru some of the footage and threw together this little video of the event for the people that were there. If you did NOT attend, i still think you’ll have fun watching this little 7 minute “thank you”.

My good friend Del Contival died, Sunday, at 12:50/31/7/2016. Long before that at my 70th birthday party in 2013 he had a near death experience that revealed his attitude about his death. This is my story of that experience as I learned about it and spoke about it with him at that time. Don Macken edited his own footage for this occasion and it has served well for many people who knew and loved Del. May it serve you too.
A few days before he passed, I went to Hawaii to visit with him. The following is my dairy of that time:
When I arrived in Kauai, at his home Del was sitting up in bed and very happy to see us. He was talkative and attentive. It was a marvelous evening.
The next day he never woke up. The nurse and Dr. both came in, described that he was well down the path to the end. He has days or hours or whatever. Last night was it! we feel blessed to have had such a rich connection.
I didn’t realize just how beautiful till we realized it was really the last real connection with Del. A short and quick end is what he wanted and he’s getting it.
Saturday, the third day, he’s still mostly out of pain and unconsciousness now pretty continually. The nurse came and talked to him. He actually tired to responded to her with his eyes opening. She talks to him and he responds a bit. We didn’t known that was possible. Very sweet. Even tender. She washed him and the bed and changed the diaper, a lot of pain while moving him. It’s over now and he’s back to a still, unconscious state again. He’s probably exhausted. Steady very slow breathing not very often. We’re hearing from Hospice that this may be the last time to connect. I’m going to say I love him and goodby, go to the light, go to the Master. And that many people I know are wishing him all the best. Perhaps I will know if he heard me, perhaps not.
Del died today, Sunday, at 12:50/31/7/2016 His breathing slowed and broke into apnea. The apnea gapes grew gradually slower as well for 15 or 20 minutes till they stopped finally and completely. Joan, his wife who lives here in their house on Kaua’i, Charmain his daughter came from Montana, Neil Brosnahan, lives a mile away and has been a steady friend for ages, Stephen Lang, a good friend came in from the big island, Greeley Wells, who flew in from Oregon all misted up with tears of missing and gratitude that his pain was now over. He is now content and we hope blissful, it is those left who now need to come to acceptance of the place he leaves empty in our world. I find myself finding it difficult to imagine a world without Del in it somewhere.
The Hospice folks were wonderful beyond describing and a sweet and efficient nurse was present at the death.
Thank you for all the understanding and sensitive notes, remembrances and missives that have come in.
